Our Story

Welcome to State of Mind -- a Public House & Pizzeria inspired by the Golden State. We believe California is much more than a place on the map; to us, it’s a State of Mind. With roots in the state dating back to the 1800s, State of Mind brings to life the long-held dream of our family, all of whom were born and raised locally. We are excited to be in downtown Los Altos and share our love of all things California.

Pizza is our specialty. We were awarded World’s Best Non-Traditional Pizza at the 2017 International Pizza Expo. We make our pizza with slow proofed dough, California cheese, and organic Bianco Dinapoli tomato sauce. However, we aren’t just a pizzeria;  State of Mind offers much more. We have a diverse menu with plates to share, fresh salads, sandwiches, wings and a few desserts. We make our food from scratch by hand, featuring local ingredients. This is how we eat as a family and we want to share it with you. Our dishes are inspired by the agricultural bounty and diversity we are so blessed to have here in the Golden State.

California boasts more than 850 breweries and, while we haven’t tried them all,  we have sampled 100s,  collectively of course. From this experience, we’re curating  a rotating tap list of our favorite craft breweries from throughout the state. We have a list that includes IPAs, Pale Ales, Lagers, Stouts, Sours, Browns, Saisons and more. But don't worry, we also feature glasses and bottles from independent wineries throughout California. Additionally we pour craft ciders, nitro cold brew coffee, artisan sodas, and kombucha.

Pull up a chair or bar stool, watch some sports, test your skill on our 90s arcade and pinball machines, or play board games with your kids. We have something for everyone. Stop by and join us to celebrate our State of Mind.
